 A Plea for Low-Cost/Tech Aging in Place Solutions

Independent Living Strategist and Certified Age in Place Specialist (CAPS) Louis Tenenbaum encourages the new administration to think low-cost, low-tech aging in place solutions as "he works the converging goals of saving energy, revamping our medical system and increasing jobs. Train workers to install grab bars, build ramps , insulate and caulk. Lets update and improve our housing stock before we invest in windmills, solar panels and EKGs."

Aging, Aches and Appliances

Seeing, bending and lifting are just some of the challenges we face trying to function in our own home as we get older. Appliance manufacturers seem to be getting this message as they design products for senior friendly homes. Online Exhibition of 50+ Homes & Communities

The National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) 50+ Housing Council and AIPatHome.com (Age-In-Place at Home) have agreed to collaborate in an online exhibition of 50+ homes and livable communities to increase consumer awareness of the wide range of housing options available to boomers and beyond.

The online exhibition will feature an exclusive display of the honorees in NAHB’s 2009 Best of 50+ Housing Awards Program, including the top winners in more than 20 categories for active adult and service-enriched housing.
